Whitby Town: The New Suburb South of Byford Launches

Whitby Town Estate, 5 minutes south of Byford is a new suburb, according to developers Golden Group.

The new Whitby Town Estate will become home to 10,000 new residents and transform the suburb into a future economic hub of the region.

Member for the Darling Ranges, the Hon. Tony Simpson officially launched the new town on June 25th. He also cut a ribbon to mark the launch of new facilities, including a display village, land sales office and children’s playground.

“Unlike developments within existing suburbs, the growth story at Whitby Town is just beginning.

“This new suburb, Whitby, will become a social and community hub – well placed close to planned local industry, employment and education facilities.” Says Golden Group’s Andrew Sugiaputra

New local services and facilities will be delivered as part of the development of a new District Centre.

“This will include two primary schools, a high school, technical college site as well as development of commercial, retail and community assets.” Explains Andrew

The Whitby Town community is well placed to capitalise on the future growth of the region. It’s located close to the planned Cardup and West Mundijong industrial precincts and will benefit from other economic growth drivers including construction of infrastructure and facilities.

Progress at Whitby Town is steady, many families having already moved into their homes. In addition to launching the display village and land sales office, the Whitby team has also recently completed construction of a very functional playground.

“It’s a real community asset and has been completed early in the overall development. We think it’s important to encourage kids to get off the computer and head outdoors into the natural environment.” Says Andrew

The Whitby Town Estate will create a vibrant residential community and contribute to the progression of the Mundijong Whitby District Structure Plan.
